The subgroup's Roadmap for 2025 will take into account the continuation of ESG initiatives, raising awareness in this area, promoting a national standard, and increasing the level of use of a single ESG platform.
The next meeting of the Subgroup on Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) Standards of the "Corporate Governance, Investments and Corporate Social Responsibility" working group, led by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMBDA), of the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings, was held.
The meeting, organized in an online format, was attended by representatives of about 30 public and private institutions represented in the subgroup.
Head of the Secretariat of the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings, Sector Head of the Department of Economic Policy and Industrial Issues of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vusal Shikhaliyev and Head of the Subgroup on ESG Standards, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SMBDA Natig Hasanov reported on the work done and planned measures within the framework of the subgroup. It was noted that in 2024, a national standard on ESG was adopted, a single platform – www.esghub.az was launched, and the portal was presented to the general public within the framework of COP29 held in Baku. A number of meetings of the subgroup were held, and a conference on ESG was organized at the same time.
The meeting also included a presentation on further activities for effective management of a single platform on ESG, and an exchange of views on the subgroup's Roadmap for 2025. It was emphasized that the subgroup's Roadmap for the next year will take into account the continuation of initiatives implemented on ESG, raising awareness in this area, promoting and expanding the application of the national standard, developing a single platform on ESG and increasing the level of use of this portal, and developing reporting and incentive mechanisms on ESG.
